TO,
THE DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL AFFAIRS,
MINISTRY OF SOCIAL AFFAIRS.
DEAR SIR,
Appointing eight women or ten as directors or ministers is not empowering women.
Arab governments officials when receiving guests from western countries, they will take them to the offices of these women to show them that they empower women, this is only a propaganda.
According to me, empowering women is by giving quality education to Qatari girls by enrolling them to International schools that operate under English curriculum, teach them English by native English speaking teachers, so the girls can learn mathematics and science like physics and chemistry and teach them drama in theatre, music, arts and sports and then make out of them Doctors, Engineers and executives, that is how to empower women.
I want to see Qatari ladies working side by side together with their Qatari brothers in offices, companies, oil Industry, petrochemicals and services, that is to me is empowering Qatari women.
Foreign girls are enjoying quality education in International schools and Qatar foundation that costs us billions of riyals while Qatari girls are thrown in Arabic government schools where they learn an overdose of tradition and customs on the expense of science and maths.
How can we empower Qatari women if we deprive them from the right of quality of education?
YOURS FAITHFULLY,
HASSAN IBRAHIM ALMULLA ALJEFAIRI,
QATARI ACTIVIST.
